Malvern’s Dr E Neil Lewis is this year’s ACS Anachem Award winner
Malvern Instruments Ltd
Paul Walker, Managing Director of Malvern Instruments said, “We are very proud that the ACS has recognised Neil Lewis’s achievements as an analytical chemist. In the 56 years since its inception only two other people from instrument companies have received the Anachem Award. Innovation in instrument development and analytical techniques is essential to the advancement of science and Neil’s contributions to the field of chemical imaging have indeed been outstanding.”
Dr Lewis, who was appointed to the Board of Malvern Instruments Ltd. in 2008 becoming Technical Director for the company, is recognised as one of the founders of modern near infrared chemical imaging (NIRCI) systems. Having co-authored the publication of a novel, solid state approach to chemical imaging in 1992, he has been at the forefront of system development ever since.
