Varian, Inc. announced it has been named "2004 Leading Analytical Instrumentation Company of the Year" by Frost & Sullivan, a prestigious growth-consulting firm. According to the international growth consulting and market research firm, Varian, Inc. has demonstrated unparalleled excellence for its competitive strategy in business development and customer service and has exhibited outstanding management, consistent growth, and high quality products and services.

Frost & Sullivan maintains that Varian, Inc. has carved a niche for itself as a provider of one of the widest range of scientific instruments and laboratory consumable supplies worldwide. "Be it the testing of thousands of samples in a pharmaceutical firm or the analysis of a few samples in academic or biotechnology related research, Varian, Inc. offers techniques and services that efficiently process this vast wealth of information and provide valuable analysis," said Kiran Unni, industry analyst, Frost & Sullivan. Since 1999, the company has maintained a balanced approach to refreshing and expanding its products for life science as well as industrial customers working in the chemical, petrochemical, environmental, food and beverage and metallurgy spaces. Currently, life sciences accounts for about 40 to 45 percent of the company's revenues and industrial applications make up the remainder.
