Tissue Analysis for Tox-Path: BioImagene acquires TissueInformatics
TissueInformatics is a pioneering company in tissue image analysis, based in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It specializes in the development and application of automated pathology software for the quantitative analysis of tissue changes in drug discovery, disease assessment, toxicology, and tissue engineering research.
BioImagene has taken a key step in their growth strategy with the acquisition of TissueInformatics; namely:
· The synergies bring with it a broad pipeline of IP-protected product opportunities and innovations in the tox-path area;
· Stronger East Coast presence serves the growing needs of Bio-Tech and pharmaceutical companies;
· Merger of the core strengths in tissue-image analysis with data and Image management and mining solutions addresses significant unmet needs in the tox-path market;
· Customers and partners can leverage BioImagene's strong resources for new and continuing projects.
The combined company plans to rapidly integrate TissueInformatics core technology into the BioImagene platform and application suite. Mr Mohan Uttarwar, CEO of BioImagene said, " This acquisition meets our key business objective of accelerating our efforts in the Tox-path market by offering a comprehensive solution. The present TissueInformatics management team will spearhead BioImagene's presence on the East coast and will maintain its presence in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Max Fedor of TissueInformatics will join the BioImagene team as the Vice-president of Business Development. TSG partners acted as advisers to BioImagene in the acquisition process. TSG Partners is a specialty advisory group focused on developing sector leaders in life sciences.
