Setting standards in solvents - LGC Promochem offers the solvents of choice
LGC Promochem announces its new catalogue featuring high purity solvents for residue analysis and HPLC
Environmental analysts need to detect trace levels of an increasingly wide range of organic environmental contaminants, to a high level of accuracy. Clearly, even the lowest levels of impurity in the solvent can affect the precision of this work, so each batch of Picograde® solvent undergoes rigorous testing in order consistently to meet the demanding requirements of organic trace analysis. Carefully selected raw materials are chemically pre-treated and then fractionated in glass in the absence of air. Distillation and filling into sterile, dust free glass bottles are also carried out in air-free conditions. Even the caps used to seal the bottles are subjected to the same stringent cleaning processes.
All LGC Promochem solvents are accompanied by a comprehensive certificate describing the specification of the product. This includes the determination of water content, residue on evaporation and a comprehensive gas chromatographic analysis. Further, customers can reserve quantities of a particular batch of a specific solvent in order to meet their future requirements. As a result, they can be confident that the product they use will be consistent. LGC Promochem offers new customers, who are not familiar with this range of solvents, the reassurance of quality by providing a free sample of the product for evaluation.
Another analytical technique that demands the highest possible quality solvents is high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). The technique is widely used in research and development, pharmaceutical quality control and analysis in the food and environmental sectors, where reproducible separation is critical. LGC Promochem's range of HPLC grade solvents meet the exacting requirements of this essential analytical tool.
The Picograde® range, together with LGC Promochem's HPLC solvents, and complementary products including Florisil, alumina and sodium sulphate are featured in a new catalogue.
