New names for Sartorius Group companies GWT GmbH and Boekels GmbH & Co. KG
Effective 1 June 2004, the Sartorius Group companies Global Weighing Technologies GmbH (GWT), Hamburg and Boekels GmbH & Co. KG, Aachen will operate under new company and brand names. In future, the two weighing, measuring and control technology providers for industrial processes will be known as Sartorius Hamburg GmbH and Sartorius Aachen GmbH & Co. KG. In addition to the name change, both companies will also adopt the Sartorius corporate design.
The name change has come about in connection with the new brand strategy resolved by the Executive Board of Sartorius, which intends to streamline the Group's brand image significantly, reduce complexity and strengthen the Sartorius core brand. In this context, the Melsunger B. Braun Biotech International GmbH, a provider of fermenters and bioreactors within the Group, was renamed Sartorius BBI Systems GmbH in March of this year.
The core competencies of Sartorius Hamburg GmbH lie in weighing sensors, display units and complex process control for industrial use. Its customers primarily operate in the (petro) chemicals, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, food and cosmetics industries, among others. In particular, Sartorius Aachen GmbH & Co. KG specializes in production monitoring and quality assurance, and manufactures metal detectors and dynamic checkweighers for customers in the food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemicals and mining industries. Sartorius AG acquired Boekels in 1998 and GWT in 1999.
