SGS Australia opens new Sydney Laboratory for Environmental Testing

SGS celebrated the opening of its new Sydney laboratory dedicated to environmental testing of air, water and soil. This state of the art facility in Australia is the latest addition to the SGS Environmental services business international network of 30 environmental laboratories in Asia, North America, Europe and South America.

"The Sydney Environmental laboratory represents a significant investment by SGS in the management and understanding of environmental issues, by assisting companies improve their monitoring and compliance." said Mike Fahy, Global Head of Environmental Services. "In the last few years, Australia has continued to tighten its environmental legislation and therefore it is important to match this with the correct analytical capability. These testing capabilities will provide expert information on the quality of the air we breathe; the water we drink and the soil we build on and grow our food in."

The new laboratory is located in Alexandria, close to the city, the airport and the port. The 2000 m2 lab will offer high quality testing services in analytical chemistry, method development and validation, as well as offering an analytical base for other SGS operations including Agriculture and Consumer Testing Services. The laboratory was designed with the support of and using the vast knowledge and experience of the SGS Group. SGS always operates to the highest accreditations available and this lab is fully compliant with ISO 17025 guidelines and NATA accreditation standards, ensuring the same high quality standard of service SGS provides around the world.
