modular BX3 microscopes

Excellence as a fluorescence microscope for in situ hybridization or as a polarizing microscope

Olympus Deutschland GmbH

Olympus’s modular BX3 microscopes for clinical diagnostics & research

The microscopes of the BX3 line are designed for a variety of purposes such as clinical applications and research, including high-quality fluorescence microscopy. A true color LED system provides the necessary light for transmitted light applications. Its wavelength profile corresponds to that of halogen illumination with a daylight filter, thus ensuring the same color fidelity. Further advantages of this light source are its longevity and high energy efficiency. It is controlled by the Light Intensity Manager (LIM), which automatically adjusts the light intensity each time the objective lens is changed.

Key features:

  • Long-life and cost-saving true color LED illumination for color reproduction like when using halogen illumination with a daylight filter
  • Freely configurable and combinable, upright microscope systems
  • Integration of imaging modules, cameras and software into the system
  • Flexible ergonomics: for both left and right handed operation
  • Advanced UIS2 optics

High-quality optics and the adaptability of the models to different user needs were mainly what we had in mind when we developed the line of BX3 microscopes: from the frame to the imaging components, cameras, software, graphical user interfaces and the positioning of the controls on the workspace, you can configure your microscope system to meet your personal requirements. For the automated BX63, for example, there is a freely placeable and programmable touch panel, allowing fingertip control of all components of the system. The additionally available, removable control element is operated like normal X, Y and Z drives but can also be used to change the observation mode, objective lens or filter module. For focusing, not the stage but the nosepiece is revolved, which increases precision and stability. The manual frame BX53 can be configured with manual, coded and automated modules for a variety of requirements. Many controls, such as ND filters, fluorescence shutters, fine focus knob and stage handle, can be mounted on the right or left hand side.

The instrument is particularly suitable for the following clinical applications:

  • Chromogenic in situ hybridization (CISH)
  • Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
  • Histology
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • Laboratory microscopy
  • Routine microscopy
  • Scanning microscopy
  • (Cellular) morphology

Information about the product line:

BX63: routinely equipped with sophisticated automation
BX53: manual frame, specifically designed for research
BX46: ergonomic scanning microscope with a very low and extremely smooth-running stage
BX43: modular frame for clinical laboratory applications
