Final report: analytica China 2010 strengthens leading position on Chinese market

21-Sep-2010 - China

analytica China, which was held at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC), drew to a close last Friday, exceeding industry expectations with 15,282 visitors from 66 countries. The number of exhibitors saw an increase of more than 30 percent compared to the last time that the fair was held: Some 468 companies from 22 countries exhibited at the exhibition center in Shanghai from September 15 – 17, and 40 percent of them were international companies. There were also many newcomers this year, including Beijing Titan, GE Healthcare, Dionex, Horiba, Siemens and Tecan. The fair was rounded out by an extensive program of scientific events including the analytica China Conference, the Sino-German Symposium and the Proteomics and diseases Conference 2010.

"Within a very short period of time, analytica China has developed into a leading platform for analysis, laboratory technology, diagnostics and biology in China and Asia. The more than 30-percent increase in the number of exhibitors is the largest increase since the fair's premiere in 2002", summarizes Norbert Bargmann, Deputy CEO of Messe München. "Continuous growth in the number of exhibitors and visitors since 2002 is a clear sign of the industry's commitment to the Chinese market – now and in the future."

That is also underscored by the high level of interest among international companies: 40 percent of all exhibitors were from countries other than China – coming from 21 countries around the world. Germany accounted for the largest contingent of international exhibitors with 37 exhibitors – including a joint stand with 30 companies. There was also another increase in the number of visitors at the 5th edition of analytica China.

15,282 visitors from 66 countries used the three-day fair to gather information about the industry's latest products, solutions and trends. Among other things, they included the latest methods and techniques for environmental analysis as well as equipment and techniques for quality control in the food and drug industries. The fact that analytica China was held at the same time as ICIF China, the 10th China International Chemical Industry Fair, for the first time ever also contributed to the fair's success and the increase in the number of visitors.

Highly satisfied exhibitors and visitors

The exhibitors at this year's fair were extremely pleased with the number and the quality of the visitors. Jerry He, CAG Marketing Manager, Greater China Life Science and Chemical Analysis Group, Agilent Technologies (China) Co., Ltd. was very impressed by the scale of this year's exhibition: "The number and quality of visitors exceeded our expectation greatly. We’ve seen not only our traditional industry buyers, but also many customers from China's neighboring countries, is a big step forward this year."

Kazuhisa Takada, Director of JASCO China (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was also extremely satisfied with visitor quality, as well: "We’ve received customers from China as well as from other neighboring Asian countries including India." Wilson Wang, Managing Director, Greater China Sigma-Aldrich (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. confirms: "analytica China is a must for those who would like to present their latest updates to their target groups."

"We are always very happy with the visitors. There are many dealers, end users and customers. We’ve received great feedback from them, and we will definitely be back next time."

Chinese exhibitors also had a great deal of praise for analytica China. Sabrina Huang, Marketing Manger at Shanghai Sunny Henping Scientific Instrument Co., Ltd.: "The number of visitors continues to increase each time the fair is held, and they not only come from China. They also include visitors from around the world who are looking for products and partners in China."

Zhang Kejun, Business Manager at Shandong Liaocheng Ehua Medicine Co., Ltd.: "There are many international exhibitors and I’m very impressed with the latest products displayed here."

First-rate program of related events

As always, the program of related events at analytica China was also convincing. 1,528 visitors participated in the scientific conferences and theme-oriented workshops that accompanied the fair. While the analytica China Conference and its approximately 50 scientific speakers examined topics including the latest findings and future trends in the fields of quality control, environmental analysis and food analysis, the Sino-German Symposium, which took place for the second time, focused on the latest research results in chromatography, separation and specimen analysis.

Experts from the proteome research sector also met for the second time at the Proteomics & Diseases Conference 2010, where lectures and case studies focused on the latest methods and technologies and their application in medical research.

Dr. Wang Erkang, Director of the Analytical Chemistry Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and Chairman of analytica China Conference, explains: "The conference presentations are well delivered by highly qualified international experts. It is a good collaborative format, and holding the scientific seminars concurrently with the trade fair brings mutual benefit to all.”

Tutorials and workshops on specific themes and the Exhibitor Forum rounded out the related-events program at analytica China with Best Practice presentations and practice-oriented discussions.

Network of strong partners

To meet the needs of the Chinese market as precisely as possible, analytica China collaborates closely with a network of recognized Chinese partner organizations. They include the Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA), the Chinese Chemical Society (CSS), the China National Scientific Instruments & Material Import-Export Corporation (CSIMC), the Shanghai International Symposium on Analytical Chemistry and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). In addition, a Technical Advisory Board that includes representatives of Chinese universities and manufacturers as well as major international corporations advises Messe München regarding the organization of analytica China. The next analytica China takes place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong in the autumn of 2012.
